The basics

What Is a Balloon Wall?

Picture a solid surface made entirely of balloons, usually 6 to 10 feet across, standing in as your backdrop.

An arch frames a space and a garland follows a line, but a balloon wall covers the entire surface. It's built on its own frame or grid, so it stands up in front of any wall and works as a photo backdrop, a stage background, a cake-table wall or a branded step-and-repeat at a launch or gala.

Square foot for square foot, nothing in balloon decor makes a bigger statement. Walls work for birthdays, weddings, grad parties, gender reveals, holiday parties and corporate events, and every photo comes out clean because there's no gap where the room shows through.

Wall styles

Types of Balloon Walls We Build

There are five main ways to build one, and each has its own look and price point.

Organic balloon walls

Mixed balloon sizes are layered across the full surface until it looks soft, deep and cloud-like. This is the most luxurious wall we build and the one couples and shower hosts book most for weddings, showers and big birthdays. It also uses the most balloons, which puts it at the high end of our prices.

Grid and link balloon walls

Grid walls are made from linking balloons tied together into a net, so every balloon sits in a neat row. People also call them quick link balloon walls or link walls. The grid lets you lay out a checkerboard, a heart, a number or simple stripes. They look sharp and graphic and are ideal for school spirit, team colors and brand palettes.

Framed balloon walls

Here the balloons fill a shaped frame: a rectangle, an arch-top panel or a full circle. The outline carries much of the design. An arch-top chiara frame feels elegant, a square reads modern and a circle feels playful.

Foil and mylar balloon walls

Foil walls use mylar balloons, usually stars, hearts or squares in metallic tones. They bounce light around, look great on camera and contain no latex, which matters for allergy-conscious guests and for venues, schools and hospitals that don't permit latex.

Floating and lighted balloon walls

Floating walls are rows of helium balloons on ribbons, anchored so the whole wall sways gently. They're eye-catching but short-lived, so they suit an event of a few hours. Lighted walls weave in LED strings or LED balloons for evening receptions and New Year's Eve countdowns.

Balloon Wall Sizes and Balloon Counts

Size the wall to the photo you want. An 8×8 ft wall fits six to eight guests shoulder to shoulder.

Uses

Ways to Use a Balloon Wall

A balloon wall pulls its weight by doing several jobs at the same event.

Balloon photo wall

The selfie and group-shot station. Add a name in vinyl or a marquee age and guests will queue up for it.

Dessert and cake table backdrop

A wall behind the cake keeps every photo tidy and hides whatever the room has back there.

Stage and head-table background

For toasts, DJs, award presentations and the wedding party's table.

Branded step-and-repeat

A grid wall in company colors with a logo panel for launches, galas and booths at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center.

Room divider

Screen off a catering setup, a bar or a storage corner in a rented hall or church fellowship room.

Gender reveal moment

A neutral wall with a hidden pop panel, or one that turns pink or blue on the reveal side.

Occasions

Balloon Walls for Birthdays, Weddings, Graduations and Holidays

These are the celebrations Dallas hosts book balloon walls for most.

  • Birthdays: walls for kids' parties and for 18th, 21st and 30th birthdays, often with the age or a name built in.
  • Weddings and bridal showers: soft organic walls in ivory and blush placed behind the couple's table or right inside the reception entrance.
  • Graduations, prom and homecoming: school-color grid walls with the class year, plus glam walls for prom and homecoming photos.
  • Gender reveals and baby showers: neutral walls with a reveal built in, and soft pastel walls for showers.
  • Valentine's Day: shiny walls of foil hearts, mixing red, pink and rose gold.
  • Christmas and New Year's Eve: red, green and gold walls, and black, gold and silver chrome walls for the countdown.
  • Halloween and Easter: orange and black for fall festivals, pastels for spring egg hunts at schools and churches.
  • Corporate events: branded walls for grand openings, galas and conferences.

Installation

How We Set Up a Balloon Wall Without Marking Your Walls

Simple: nothing we build gets attached to your walls.

Each balloon wall stands on its own weighted frame. At home, that saves your paint from tape and glue dots. At Dallas venues, it keeps us inside the rules, since most hotel ballrooms in Downtown, Uptown and Las Colinas, and most event halls, prohibit tape, nails and adhesives on their walls. A freestanding wall can also slide a few feet on the day if the floor plan changes.

  1. 1

    Measure

We confirm the wall size, ceiling height, nearby outlets for lighting and the route from the loading door to the spot.

  2. 2

    Build

Bigger walls go up in panels that are joined on-site and fluffed until the seams vanish.

  3. 3

    Finish

Vinyl, foil accents, signs and lights go on last, and we check the wall from where the photographer will stand.

What can I use to stick balloons to a wall? If you're hanging a few balloons yourself, removable adhesive hooks with fishing line are the safest bet, and glue dots work on sealed surfaces. Test any adhesive somewhere hidden first. For a full wall of balloons, use a frame that stands in front of the wall instead.

Longevity

How Long Do Balloon Walls Last?

Indoors, an air-filled wall lasts several days. A floating helium wall lasts hours.

Inside an air-conditioned room, an air-filled organic or grid wall keeps its shape for several days and frequently a full week. Foil walls hold up even longer. Floating helium walls begin to sag within hours. For an outdoor wall in a Dallas summer, choose shade and build on the day of the event, because North Texas sun and heat cloud and pop latex quickly, and an 8-foot wall catches wind like a sail.

Questions

Balloon Walls in Dallas: FAQ

What is a balloon wall?

It's a freestanding surface packed solid with balloons, typically 6 to 10 feet across, that serves as a photo backdrop, a stage background or a wall behind the desserts. It can be organic, grid-style, framed or built from foil balloons.

How much do balloon walls cost?

Our foil balloon walls start at $105 for an 8×5 ft wall, grid walls at $385 and organic walls at $575 for 8×8 ft. The final price depends on size, style and extras.

How long do balloon walls last?

Air-filled walls last several days indoors, often a week. Foil walls last longer still. Helium floating walls last a few hours, and outdoor walls in Dallas summer sun last only hours.

What size balloon wall do I need?

Most hosts choose 8×8 ft, which fits a group photo or a cake table. A 6×6 ft wall suits smaller rooms and couples, while 8×10 ft and custom widths suit stages and head tables.

Will a balloon wall damage my walls?

No. Every wall we build sits on its own weighted frame a few inches in front of yours, so tape, nails and glue never come near your paint.

What is it called when balloons are linked into a wall?

That's a grid wall, also called a link wall. Linking balloons are tied into a net, which makes it easy to create rows, patterns, numbers and logos.

Can a balloon wall be latex-free?

Yes. Foil (mylar) walls contain no latex, which makes them the right pick for guests with latex allergies and for venues that don't allow latex balloons.

Can you put a name or logo on a balloon wall?

Yes. Names go on in custom vinyl or with marquee letters, and logos go on a panel set into the wall or are laid out in brand colors inside a grid wall.
