The basics
What Is a Custom Balloon Installation?
If it hangs overhead, spans a room, takes a shape or carries a logo, we call it an installation.
A custom balloon installation is balloon decor designed for one particular space and built there, usually bigger or more structural than an arch, garland or column. Picture a ceiling of balloons above a dance floor, a cloud floating over the sweetheart table, a 30 ft entrance arch for a store opening in Frisco, a giant mosaic number, a walk-through tunnel or a logo sculpted from balloons. This is where balloon decor turns into balloon art.
Since every installation is built for a specific room, it begins with measurements and a design rather than a menu. Choose one when the space is large, the event is high-profile or you want something guests haven't seen at every other party this year. For our standard pieces, see balloon arches, garlands, walls, columns and backdrops.
What we install
Types of Custom Balloon Installations
These are the installations Dallas venues, brands and hosts request most.
Balloon ceilings
A balloon ceiling fills the space above the guests. It might be helium balloons pressed against the ceiling with ribbons trailing down, air-filled balloons hung upside down at staggered heights, or garlands swagged from wall to wall. A ceiling turns a plain hall, gym or rented warehouse in the Design District into a real event space, and it's a favorite for prom, quinceañeras, weddings and holiday parties.
Hanging balloons, canopies and chandeliers
Garlands suspended above a long table, a canopy of balloons over a dance floor or inside a tent, and balloons wrapped around an existing chandelier (or a balloon chandelier built on a hoop) put the decor at eye level and above without using any floor space.
Balloon clouds
A balloon cloud is a soft, floating mass of white and clear balloons with a few pastel or metallic touches, hung above a table or used as a backdrop. Cloud nine themes, baby showers and dreamy reception setups use them most.
Balloon drops
A balloon drop lets hundreds of balloons fall from an overhead net or bag at one exact moment: the midnight countdown, a gender reveal, a grand entrance, the close of a graduation party or a product reveal. We rig the drop before doors open, and it's released with a pull cord at the right second.
Balloon sculptures and balloon art
Balloon sculptures take on a recognizable shape: an oversized number, a cowboy boot, a football helmet, a cake, a school mascot or a company logo. Balloon art for galleries, schools and brand events can be built life-size or larger.
Balloon trees, palm trees and topiaries
Palm trees by the pool, topiaries at a formal dinner and Christmas trees in an office lobby are all freestanding balloon pieces. Structurally they're balloon columns with a shape built on top.
Balloon tunnels
A balloon tunnel is a row of arches spaced closely enough that guests walk through it. It makes a memorable wedding entrance, a school hallway for homecoming week, a fun-run finish line or a grand opening walkway.
Balloon mosaics, number towers and marquee letters
A mosaic fills a number, letter or shape frame with small balloons, like a picture made of pixels. Mosaic numbers and letters spell out an age, an initial or a graduating class year, while marquee letters wrapped in balloons add a warm glow. They're among the pieces we're asked for most at birthdays and graduations.
Balloon wreaths and giant balloons
Balloon wreaths frame a front door or a welcome sign. Giant balloons, 36 inches and up and sometimes filled with confetti, create big moments for gender reveals, proposals and photo sessions.

Process
How a Custom Installation Comes Together
Larger builds take a little more planning. Here's how we get from idea to build day.
- 1
Brief
Share the event, the date, the venue and what you're imagining. Photos, mood boards and brand guides all help.
- 2
Site details
We confirm room dimensions, ceiling height, rigging points, power, dock and load-in times and the venue's rules, in person or from your photos and measurements.
- 3
Design and quote
You receive a design plan and a written quote. Large installs are priced by scope, not by the foot.
- 4
Build day
We load in during the venue's window, build on-site and walk the room with you before guests arrive.
- 5
Strike
We take everything down when the event ends or first thing the next morning, whichever the venue requires.
Venue rules worth asking about early: many Dallas hotels and event venues set strict load-in and strike times, ask vendors for proof of liability insurance (a certificate of insurance naming the venue), limit helium tanks, forbid tape on walls and won't let anything hang from the ceiling without sign-off. Downtown and Uptown venues often add dock reservations and freight-elevator slots. We sort these out before quoting so build day goes smoothly.
Pricing
How Much Do Balloon Installations Cost in Dallas?
Custom installations start at $450 and grow with size and complexity.
| Installation | Starting at |
|---|---|
| Balloon mosaic number or letter, 3 ft | $210 |
| Balloon mosaic number or letter, 5 ft | $375 |
| Custom balloon installation | $450 |
| Marquee letter or number rental | $50 each |
| Ceilings, drops, tunnels and sculptures | Custom quote |
Large installs are quoted after a site measure. Venue load-in rules and late-night strikes can add to the total.
What drives the price of an installation: the square footage or length covered, how many balloons and what sizes, rigging and lift needs (high ceilings matter), helium, crew hours, overnight or after-hours load-ins, venue insurance requirements and a same-night teardown. Send us your venue and ceiling height and we'll scope it properly.

- Prom, homecoming and graduation: a ceiling over the gym floor, a tunnel at the door and a mosaic of the class year.

Timing
How Far Ahead to Book a Balloon Installation
Give large installations three to six weeks.
Smaller installs, such as a mosaic number or a balloon drop at home, can often be booked a week or two out. Ceilings, tunnels, sculptures and anything at a hotel or event venue need three to six weeks for design, venue approval and ordering custom balloons. December weekends, New Year's Eve, spring prom season, homecoming in September and October, and late-May graduations fill up first.

Questions
Custom Balloon Installations in Dallas: FAQ
How much do balloon installations cost?
Our custom balloon installations start at $450. Mosaic numbers start at $210 and marquee letters at $50 each. Ceilings, drops, tunnels and sculptures are quoted per project based on size, rigging and crew time.
What is a balloon ceiling?
It's decor that covers the area above your guests, built from floating helium balloons with ribbon tails, air-filled balloons suspended at varied heights, or garlands draped from one wall to the other.
What is a balloon drop?
A balloon drop releases hundreds of balloons from an overhead net or bag at a planned moment, such as a New Year's countdown, a gender reveal, a grand entrance or a send-off.
How many balloons are needed for a balloon drop?
About 100 to 250 for a home or a small room, and 500 to 1,500 or more for a dance floor or ballroom. The size of the drop area and the ceiling height set the number.
What is a balloon mosaic?
It's a frame cut in the shape of a number, letter or symbol and packed with small balloons, so it reads like a pixel image. Birthdays, graduations and anniversaries use them most.
How long do ceiling balloons last?
Helium ceiling balloons look their best for about 8 to 12 hours. Air-filled hanging installations last several days indoors.
How far in advance should I book a balloon installation?
Three to six weeks for ceilings, tunnels, sculptures and anything at a venue. One to two weeks for smaller pieces like a mosaic number or a balloon drop at home.
Do venues allow balloon installations?
Most do, with conditions. Venues commonly ask for vendor liability insurance, set load-in and strike times, and may limit helium, tape and anything hung from the ceiling. We check the rules before we quote.
What is balloon art?
The term covers sculpted and large-scale designed balloon pieces: oversized numbers, logos, characters and whole-room installations. It's a different craft from the twisted balloon animals you see at kids' parties.
